Choosing the kayak for the first time is very much confusion. Because you haven’t boated before so you don’t know what exactly you should buy. You may afraid of choosing the wrong one which doesn't fit you.
But your confusion for buying a kayak can be sorted out with a couple of questions. Like-

  1. Where or what type of paddling you are going to do? - sea kayaking, white water, touring, fishing, play boating or surfing.
  2. How many people are going to use the kayak?
  3. Will you need storage space in the kayak for a long trip?
  4. How easily can you load transport and store a kayak?

If you have the answers, you know what type of kayak will meet up your needs. I will highlight on some kayak which may help to select the perfect kayak according to your answers.

1. Sit-On-Top Kayak: Sit- on- Top kayak consider as ideal for beginners. They are great for having fun on the river, and sea as they are stable and very easy to paddle. Sit on tops has storage space in the hull of the kayak and in the back. They are available for solo, tandem and three person boats version.

2. Inflatable Kayaks: Inflatable kayaks can be the best solution for those who have storage and transportation issues. Because you can deflate it and fold down to an easily manageable size. They are also available in different sizes and models to carry 1, 2 or 3 person. Inflatable kayaks are also stable but you can only experience inland waterway like- rivers, lakes and canals.

3. Touring Kayak: Touring Kayaks are really ideal for calm coastal paddling, lakes and rivers. They are fast through the water and easier to maneuver. They often come with a drop down rudder to improve tracking and also available as both single and tandem boats.

4. Sea Kayaks: For a smooth trip sea kayaks are designed to be very fast through the water and cutting through the waves. They a have a lot of storage and ideal for a long trip. They are available in single and tandem model and can also be fitted with fishing accessories.

5. Whitewater Kayak: This type of kayaks is much shorter than sit on top and sea kayaks. Whitewater kayaks are designed for extreme white water rivers and able to surf the waves and play boat tricks.
